A receipt must be handed in at the Eimskip office at the same time as the car, in addition to confirmation regarding freight insurance before departure, that is if the shipper wishes to insure the car.
When shipping a car it is important to have the following documents with you when arriving at the customs authorities abroad (please note it is very important not to leave the original documents in the car).
Vehicle registration
International insurance certificate (green card) – available at your insurance agency.
Two copies must be made of the registration certificate. Place one copy in the vehicle and leave one copy with Eimskip.
Insurance
The shipper can state on the list of contents whether he/she wants to insure the shipment. Eimskip encourages customers to insure their shipments, as they are often very valuable and the carrier’s liability is limited by law. Eimskip handles the sale of insurance from the insurance company TM.
