Eimskip signed a Climate Change Declaration in November 2015, which includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing negative environmental impacts through targeted measures, and measuring performance, and periodically providing status information. Eimskip set itself the goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 40% on the transferred unit by 2030.

Eimskip's Corporate social responsibility policy was formulated in 2016 and published in 2017. The policy is based on guidelines from the Nasdaq ESG Reporting Guide, which was published in March 2017.

Eimskip cooperated with Klappir Green Lausnir hf. in 2016 to implement software that collects metrics from each business entity and streams them into a centralized environmental database. Eimskip's goal is to achieve outstanding environmental issues and issues related to sustainability in all areas, Eimskip also wants to ensure compliance with international environmental laws and regulations. Following this work, the ESG report for the years 2015 to 2018 for Eimskipafélag Íslands hf., Eimskip Ísland ehf. and Faroe Ship was published on our website along with the annual report 2018. We are proud of the achievements that have been made, our carbon footprint has decreased by 12% in 2018 compared to 2015.

We also have a Carbon Calculator that gives our customers and others the opportunity to calculate the carbon footprint associated with transportation.
